Accessibility Statement

Last updated: April 13, 2026

Taberner Studio Photography is committed to making this website accessible to all visitors, including those with disabilities. We are actively working to improve the accessibility and usability of our site, and we want to be transparent about what we have done so far and where we know gaps remain.

Our Goal

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. We are not yet fully compliant, but we are treating these guidelines as our benchmark and working toward them incrementally.

What We Have Done

The following accessibility features are currently implemented:

  • Descriptive alternative text on all product images, gallery images, and key page graphics
  • A “Skip to main content” link for keyboard users to bypass navigation
  • Semantic HTML throughout: proper heading hierarchy, landmarks (main, nav, header, footer), and sectioning elements
  • Keyboard-accessible modals and popups that close with the Escape key
  • ARIA roles, labels, and aria-modal on dialog overlays (promo popups, room visualizer)
  • Descriptive aria-label attributes on icon-only buttons (chat, cart controls, close buttons)
  • Accessible SVG room-preview images with role="img" and descriptive labels
  • Visible labels or screen-reader-only labels on all form inputs (contact, newsletter, chat, checkout, promo subscribe)
  • Inline error messages on forms including contact, checkout, and newsletter subscription
  • A high-contrast dark color scheme with light text on dark backgrounds as the default palette
  • ESLint jsx-a11y plugin enabled in our development toolchain to catch common accessibility issues at authoring time

Known Limitations

We are aware of the following areas that do not yet meet WCAG 2.1 AA and are working to address them:

  • Some text uses reduced opacity (e.g. muted captions, navbar over transparent backgrounds) which may not meet the 4.5:1 contrast ratio for small text in all contexts
  • The site banner component allows admin-configured colors with no automated contrast check
  • The live chat does not use aria-live regions to announce new messages to screen readers
  • We do not yet have automated accessibility testing (e.g. axe-core, Lighthouse CI) integrated into our build or deployment pipeline
  • We have not conducted formal screen reader testing; our current checks are limited to linting rules and manual keyboard navigation
